Dr. Dom Shaw

Dr. Claire Hudson is delighted to welcome dentist Dr. Dom Shaw (GDC 210226 ) to Cotswold Dental Wellness.

Dom has joined the practice to take over the work of Dr. Connor Bryant who has left the practice.

Dom has become a familiar face at Cotswold Dental Wellness over the past few months covering Claire’s maternity leave and everyone is delighted that he’s staying on with the team.

Dom graduated from Newcastle University in 2011. Following graduation he completed Dental Foundation Training with the Northern Deanery working at Osborne Dental in Jesmond, Newcastle. It was an exiting year for the practice culminating in winning BDA Good Practice of the Year.

In the pursuit of adventure Dom decided to join the Army and in 2012 became a commissioned Officer in the Army Medical Services. Three months at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst was followed by a two and a half year posting to Germany.

Whilst in Germany Dom was selected to play for the Rugby for the Army.  Followed an extremely busy few years balancing clinical commitments with sporting aspirations. In 2016 Dom playing in the Army V Navy fixture at a sold out twickenham stadium.

Coincident with the draw down of troops in Germany Dom was posted to North Yorkshire. On return from Germany Dom married his wife Sophie and the family grew further with the addition of Bella their German Short Haired Pointer. Dom, Soph and Bella spent two years working in Catterick Garrison and exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

In 2017 Dom deployed to South Sudan as part of the UN peace keeping mission.  The UK sent a task force built predominately of Engineers and Medics. Based in the Bentiu in the North of South Sudan Dom was involved in setting up and manning a hospital.  The hospital consisted of an emergency department, intensive care unit, surgical theatre, ward and primary health care department.

On return from Africa Dom moved with Soph and Bella to Chester where Dom completed the final six months of his military commitment.

Soph, Bella and Dom now live in Oxfordshire and work in Long Crendon Dental a practice owned by Dom’s Mum.

‘When Mum had her bicycle accident we were so fortunate for the support that Claire very kindly offered and it is wonderful to be able to return the favour’.

Dom has a keen interest in all aspects of restorative dentistry.  He is thoroughly looking forward to joining the Team at Cotswold Dental Wellness and looking after Claire’s patients while she welcomes the newest member to her family.
